resume

I'm a science writer and editor based in the San Francisco Bay Area. I write about ecology and physiology, earth sciences and the environment for popular magazines, web sites, and leading scientific journals.

My books include Natural History of San Francisco Bay, a guide to the human and environmental history of the state's largest estuary (UC Press, 2011), and The Environmental Legacy of the UC Natural Reserve System (UC Press, 2013).

I started out as a daily newspaper reporter, and became editor of California Wild, the magazine of the California Academy of Sciences. I am now Principal Publications Coordinator for the University of California Natural Reserve System.
