The news media is increasingly confronted with controversies that require weighing complicated scientific information against legal, religious, ethical, economic and political concerns. In this symposium, leading science journalists and scientists will look at the difficulties in covering controversial science policy issues, from the local to global level. They will discuss the successes and pitfalls involved in coverage of science policy debates and how reporting might be improved.
