John D. Ruley
Is
an aerospace writer, editor, archivist and private pilot who completed a
mid-career Master of Science through the University of North Dakota Space
Studies program in 2010. From 2015 through 2017 he
served as archivist/editor on Goddard Space Flight Center’s Hubble Space
Telescope Operational History Project. He is a contributing editor to Piper Flyer and Cessna Flyer Magazines, contributes to Avionics News and has been a columnist for Plane and Pilot Magazine and contributor to the Astrobiology/Space.com
web site. John wrote a chapter for the book Exploring
the Solar System: The History and Science of Planetary Exploration (New
York: Palgrave MacMillan, 2013) and contributed five entries (and co-wrote two
more) to the book Space Exploration and
Humanity: A Historical Encyclopedia, (Santa Barbara, CA: ABC-CLIO, 2010).
Since 2005 he has also worked part-time for Foresight Science & Technology,
where he provides commercialization assistance on small business innovation
research (SBIR) contracts. From 1992-1999 he was an editor with CMP Media’s
