Countdown to launch begins; Columbia to blast off Thursday

WASHINGTON, April 13 (UPI) -- NASA began today the countdown for the launch of the space shuttle Columbia on a $99 million mission to study the human brain and nervous system. During their 17-day stay in space, the seven astronauts on board are slated to conduct a set of 26 biological experiments called Neurolab.

Gentlemen, Unplug Your Engines!

WASHINGTON, May 8 (UPI) -- A caravan of nearly four dozen electric vehicles will leave New York City Sunday to compete in the American Tour de Sol, a six-day road-running challenge to Washington.
