CASW 2000 TRAVEL FELLOWSHIP AWARDS

The 2000 New Horizons in Science Briefing, sponsored by the Council for the Advancement of Science Writing, was held Oct. 29-Nov. 2 in Houston, TX and hosted by Rice University. The following young freelance and staff writers from small-circulation newspapers received travel fellowships to attend the meeting: David Appel, freelance, Guilford, NH; Greg Clark, formerly of space.com; Sandra Doughton, News Tribune, Tacoma, WA; Eric Frankowski, Daily Times-Call, Longmont, Colorado; Marlene MacLeisch, Morehouse School of Medicine-Outreach Program; Kimberly Masibay, Food & Wine magazine; David Terraso, CNN.com and Kathleen Wong, Monterey Herald. The CASW Travel Fellowships are underwritten by The Burroughs Wellcome Fund.
