SUBSIDIES OFFERED FOR SCIENCE WRITERS' STUDY MISSION TO ISRAEL

The American Committee for the Weizmann Institute of Science (ACWIS) is accepting applications for a fully subsidized Science Writers Study Mission to Israel, May 12-18, 2001. The study mission aims to introduce science writers/journalists to the Weizmann Institute of Science, a leading basic science research center, and to Israel's role as a leader in innovative science and technology research in the 21st century.

The study mission, limited to 15 participants, will spend approximately two days on the campus of the Weizmann Institute, visiting labs and meeting scientists, and two days on field visits to private industries using Weizmann Institute research. Meetings with government officials and local science journalists are being planned.

The study mission is fully subsidized, including all basic land costs and airfare to and from Israel. Participation is strictly limited. Freelance science writers with a record of publications and journalists working general or science publications or broadcast media may apply for consideration.
