You will note in the mailings that you are receiving from the American Association for the Advancement of Science and in the pages of this newsletter that there are many workshops, symposia, and lots of other good things happening at the time of the NASW annual meeting. First among these are the NASW-organized workshops scheduled for Thursday, November 9, described in the President's Letter and the Free-Lance Writing column. Friday night, November 9, is the local party sponsored by the DC Science Writers Association, at the Camden Club at Camden Yard, the Baltimore Orioles ballpark. Saturday is NASW Day: The NASW business meeting will begin at 4 p.m. in the news conference room, followed by the AAAS-Whitaker Foundation-NASW banquet at the Aquarium with divers also feeding the fish, plus live music, dancing and conversation.
Read your dues notice which will be mailed out December 14 or 15. Enclosed will be a description of the banquet and a form to return with a check, please. Also enclosed will be a more detailed description of the NASW workshop schedule.
The annual meeting of the International Science Writers Association will be held Sunday, February 11, in the news conference room, to be followed by an AAAS reception.
And please be sure to read all your mail in the next month or so. In this newsletter is a form to join the Author's Registry, described in Mary Knudson's column in the Summer SW, and further in the mailing. Follow the instructions. Membership is entirely voluntary, but if you don't fill out and return your form, you won't be in the Registry.
