CASW 1999 TRAVEL FELLOWSHIP AWARDS

The 1999 New Horizons in Science meeting, sponsored by the Council for the Advancement of Science Writing, was held Nov. 7-11 in Hershey, PA, and hosted by Pennsylvania State University. The following young freelance writers and staff reporters from small-circulation newspapers received the Leo Allard/Pat McGrady Travel Fellowships to attend the meeting: Anday O. Alali, The Runner (California State University, Bakersfield); Judie Marks, The Herald (Monterey County, CA); Susie Bodman, Gazette-Times (Corvallis, OR); Debra Brownley, Gettysburg Times (Gettysburg, PA); Steve Tomaska, Daily Press (Ashland, WI); Diedtra Henderson, freelance (Seattle, WA); Mary Landers, Savannah Morning News; Victoria Parker-Stevens, Carlsbad Current-Argus (Carlsbad, NM). The Leo Allard/Pat McGrady Travel Fellowships are underwritten by The Burroughs Wellcome Fund.
