FOR THE RECORDOverlooked in an article on NASW members recently inducted as AAAS Fellows (SW, Winter 2002-03) was Rick Fienberg of Sky & Telescope magazine. Fienberg’s official citation reads, “for a leadership role in effectively communicating astronomy’s beauty and excitement to the public as editor in chief of the much-acclaimed Sky & Telescope magazine.” In addition, Fienberg has served AAAS for many years as member-at-large of the steering committee of Section D (Astronomy), helping with section governance, nomination of fellows, and organization of meeting symposia. Of particular note is a symposium he organized at the 2000 AAAS meeting entitled “Amateurs and Professionals: Advancing Science Together,” at which astronomers, paleontologists, ornithologists, and other scientists argued about which science benefited the most from amateur contributions.
