EINSTEIN ONLINE

Scholars and students can view thousands of handwritten notes by Albert Einstein on a Web sites that debuted in May.

Einstein Archives Online (www.alberteinstein.info), a collaboration between Caltech and Hebrew University of Jerusalem, makes available high-resolution images of more than 3,000 pages of Einstein’s notes. The digitized documents, some accompanied by translations, are drawn from Hebrew University’s Albert Einstein Archives, which include personal papers the scientist bequeathed to the institution and additional documents collected by a former secretary.

In addition to its scientific material, the site collects a number of other gems, including a diary Einstein kept during a year-long stay in the United States in 1930 and 1931 and a 1921 letter to a German newspaper in which he chastises reporters for misquoting him.
