CASW Selects Four 1997 Taylor/Blakeslee Fellows

Four recipients of the Rennie Taylor/Alton Blakeslee Science Writing Graduate Program Fellowships (formerly the Nate Haseltine Fellowships) have been named by the Council for the Advancement of Science Writing.

Funded entirely by CASW, they are awarded to journalists and journalism students to enable them to go to a graduate school of their choice.

The recipients and the graduate schools are as follows: Jeffrey Brainard, who was a general assignment reporter on the St. Petersburg Times, is going to Boston University’s graduate program in science journalism; Karlyn Heather Duncan is going to Michigan State University for an MA in Journalism, having served as a graduate assistant at the university’s Institute of Water Research for the past year; Samuel Kearn Moore will attend New York University Science & Enviromental Reporting Program, having been an intern at Discover Magazine; Ike F. V. Iyioke, currently at Michigan State University Institute for Environmental Toxicology, will attend MSU School of Journalism.
