FRANK J. BOVE

NASW has been notified that Dr. Frank J. Bove, a member of NASW since 1963, has died at his home in Basel, Switzerland. He is survived by his wife, Edith E. Bove.

ERIC BERGER

Eric Berger, former editor in chief of Scholastic Magazines Inc. and editor of that company's Science World from 1960 to 1970, died April 30, 1995, of lung cancer. He was 88 and a member of NASW since 1961.

During World War II, he served as editor in chief in the Inter-Allied Department of Intelligence, producing reports on combat operations. As editor of Science World, he increased its circulation to one million per week. During his tenure there, he was also editorial director of Scholastic's Science Teachers World, and director of its science department. With Isaac Asimov, he edited a book series, Breakthroughs in Science.

BARBARA YUNCKER

Barbara Yuncker, retired science writer for the New York Post, died New Year's Day of breast cancer. She was 74.

Ms. Yuncker twice won the Albert Lasker Award for science writing, first in 1966 for a series on the birth control pill and again in 1968 for articles on the human brain.

She began her career in 1943 at the Wall Street Journal, becoming the paper's first female copy editor. She moved to the Post's copy desk in 1946 and in 1959 became a science and medical reporter. Later, she was named medicine-science editor. She was also active in the Newspaper Guild, and elected the Guild's unit chairwoman at the Post in 1976. A member of NASW since 1961, she retired in 1986.
