In over a decade of freelance writing, I have covered West Nile virus, solar power, green building, tooth enamel, cancer nanotechnology, water quality, trans fats, gas hydrates, maggot therapy, Alaskan shorebird festivals, and much more.

Whether I am writing for a national magazine or a small-town newspaper, I welcome each new assignment as an opportunity to explore the worlds of nature and science, and to bring those worlds alive for readers.

My work has been published in National Wildlife, Popular Mechanics, Colorado Outdoors, Living Bird, regional, business and alumni magazines, local newspapers, and trade publications.

As an editor, I have worked on newsletters, websites and research summaries for non-profit organizations, a guide for taking care of waterfront property on Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula, a field guide to insects of the Kenai Peninsula, and biology textbook chapters. I am a member of the National Association of Science Writers.

I currently live in Fort Collins, where I spend my free time buttoning up our 1950s home for energy and water efficiency, and hiking and cross-country skiing.
