SWINY EVENT

March 23, 2000

Living on Mars: Human Exploration of the Universe

What are NASA's expectations for human exploration of Mars? The answers are close to home. On March 23, 2000 SWINY will host Brian Sauser of the New Jersey Specialized Center of Research and Training(NJ-NSCORT) for Bioregenerative Life Support(BLSS)--a joint effort with NASA--to discuss a universe of possibilities.

The event will cover a range of topics including the values of exploring Mars, mission scenarios for Mars exploration, a full-scale human habitat for planetary exploration, and the possibilities of "terraforming" the Martian landscape to make it Earthlike.

NJ-NSCORT is a multidisciplinary organization that will generate new knowledge to help address problems of human life support associated with long duration space missions and lunar or Mars outposts. This project brings together engineers and scientists to develop technologies that will be used in the analysis, design and operation of BLSS.
