Searching for Kristin Lavransdatter

A work in progress

All material copyright 2003 by Nancy Bazilchuk

One of my favorite books ever is "Kristin Lavransdatter," a trilogy written in 1922 by Norwegian writer Sigrid Undset. Her work was recognized with the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1928. These chronicles of a headstrong Norwegian woman living in the 14th century appealed to me years before I had ever dreamed of moving to Norway, years before I even visited the place. So maybe there is karma, after all.

The documents that follow are rough essays. e-mails, mainly, to friends and family. They are first impressions, me trying to make sense of this place we're now calling home.
