Join the NASW Grants Committee

Every year, the Grants Committee awards thousands of dollars to science writers through the Peggy Girshman Idea Grants program, which funds projects that support the professional lives of science writers and/or advance the field of science writing. It’s thrilling work that involves hearing about ambitious ideas, debating the merits of various proposals, and ultimately coming together to support efforts that will shape the field in positive ways.

The Grants Committee is currently seeking a new volunteer to join six returning members as it begins the annual award cycle. If you’d like to be considered, please send a resume and a brief (no more than 200 words) statement about why you’d like to join the committee to Amy Nordrum, committee chair, at amynordrum@nasw.org by November 4. Volunteers should not have applied for an Idea Grant in the past 3 years or be planning on submitting a grant application in the next 3 years.
