Top ten reasons why freelancing beats a real job

  1. Freedom.
  2. You get to scramble for new work, write on impossible deadlines, and wait months for the check to come. This is more fun than it sounds . . .
  3. You get to meet many new, interesting people without ever leaving the comfort of your keyboard. You will never know what most of them look like, which allows your imagination free rein.
  4. You get to try not to be too smug when your friends start to bitch about office politics. This is fun.
  5. You get to learn many new, interesting things, charge lots of money for the pleasure of doing so, and wait months for the check to come . . .
  6. Freedom.
  7. Your morning coffee is not only better than the stuff at the office, it's also tax deductible.
  8. You never, ever have to wear a tie, or pantyhose, or uncomfortable shoes. You can work in your pajamas, and no one will know but the postman.
  9. You get to cash that check when it comes. This is a lot of fun.
  10. Did I mention freedom?
