Freelancers! The NASW Freelance Committee virtual meetup will kick off 2024 with a business chat to talk GOOOAALs. Your hosts for this informal meetup are NASW members Jennifer Huber and Ellen Kuwana — with Ellen as the guest speaker for this SciWriBizChat!
At the start of the meeting, Ellen will explain how to:
- Set short- and long-term goals,
- Break goals into tangible steps,
- Maintain progress toward your goal,
- Identify and anticipate obstacles, and
- Measure success.
Then we’ll break into small groups so you can discuss A) what your short- and long-term goals might be, B) next steps to your short-term goal, and C) potential obstacles. Gain wisdom from others in the group and brainstorm how to overcome obstacles! Be as participatory as you want. You’ll leave with a few examples of goal-setting worksheets (e.g. SMART model) that you can use to shape your goals as you refine them for 2024.
