Travel grants

An updated announcement, with extended deadline, on the details of the Laura Van Dam Travel Fellowships for travel to the World Conference of Science Journalists 2011 will be issued around March 2, pending final details of the conference given historic events in Egypt.

NASW awarded travel grants to 10 undergraduates interested in science writing to attend the AAAS meeting in San Diego Feb. 18-22. The fellows reported on some of the scientific sessions that they find most interesting and newsworthy.

Thanks to the AAAS Golden Fund, NASW was able to select 10 undergraduate recipients to receive a $1000 travel stipend to attend the AAAS meeting in Seattle. All the students had demonstrated a commitment to science writing through their studies or extracurricular activities.
